What is an invisible model?
You may have noticed in catalogues or online shops an “invisible model,” where the clothes are displayed as if an invisible person is wearing them. The viewer sees the shape and fit of the clothes without seeing the model or mannequin.

Invisible model is also known by other terms such as hollow-man, ghost model or invisible mannequin, and is widely used in fashion product photography.
With the use of Photoshop or other editing programs, the editor uses two photos of the product to achieve the look of an invisible model. This is done by taking one photo of the product on the mannequin and another photo of the product pinned into a position that allows the photographer to capture the inside of the product. These photos are then edited together in Photoshop where the editor places the image of the inside of the product where it would be seen if the model were to be invisible.

Hollowman

Invisible modeling is widely used in catalogues and for online shops because it lets the viewer see the fit of the clothing without having to try the product on.

Alternative spellings: Invisible-model, hollow-man, ghost model and invisible mannequin.
